General Anesthesia
General Anesthesia makes a patient completely or nearly unconscious during their treatment. This ensures that the patient will feel no pain or stress during their procedure. Often patients feel as if a procedure has only lasted a few minutes, when in reality it may have lasted several hours. General Anesthesia may be a good option for children with special needs, extreme dental anxiety, or if extensive treatment is needed.
After the patient’s procedure, they will not be easily woken up until the effects of the anesthesia wear off. General anesthesia is very safe for children. The medication is delivered by a physician anesthesiologist and the patient will be closely monitored thoroughly throughout the entire process.
